UN must investigate Myanmar

United Nations Human Rights Council (OHCHR) has been urged to set up a commission of inquiry on Burma's human rights record and does not release its leader, Aung San Suu Kyi (pictured) just because of his status as a prominent human rights.

Former Representative for Human Rights of the United States (US) to OHCHR, Keith Harper insists Suu Kyi obviously failed to resolve the crisis experienced by ethnic Rohingya Muslims in Rakhine state.

But he said, at the same time, diplomats and human rights groups that the Western view of women as a 'hero' at once will see Myanmar regardless of the allegations.

Harper also worried that the US new administration still has not named his successor in Geneva, will relax the prevailing situation in Myanmar.

"Too often Suu Kyi's status as pro-democracy activists have caused difficulties for the action taken against Myanmar despite government document human rights violations, the country has been completed," he said.

OHCHR is expected to debate the issue of Myanmar for three weeks from today.

Harper said the organization should direct full interrogation of Myanmar.

He explained that many people hope Suu Kyi had overcome the crisis of human rights in his country when he took power last year.
